Moving is always a headache. Even if you’re a member of the royal family, it doesn’t seem that easy, according to comments Prince William made at the start of his state visit to Germany on Wednesday.
The Prince of Wales is said to have admitted that his family’s recent move to a new “forever home” at Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park was not without difficulties as he and Kate Middleton welcomed German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke Budenbender to the UK on Wednesday.

according to peopleA lip-reading expert has examined footage of a daytime diplomatic meeting between the Prince and Princess of Wales and Germany’s first couple after their arrival. “It’s great to hear you guys are moving into your new home together,” Budenbender reportedly said after everyone initially exchanged greetings.
Kate is said to have talked about creating “mood boards” to decorate her new home and planning renovations after the holidays, but Prince William is more pragmatic. “The moving process has been quite challenging and full of twists and turns, but we are working through it,” the Prince of Wales reportedly told the German first lady.

These challenges may be related to move-in schedules. Kensington Palace initially said the Welsh family would move into the forest cabin around Christmas this year. Instead, they move in during the autumn half-term holidays, which may make the transition easier when children return to school.
The Welsh family, who previously lived in Adelaide Cottage, also own Anmer Hall on the Sandringham estate and Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace. (For more information on all their homes, click here.)
