Pokémon Legends: ZA , the next game in Game Freak’s long-running Pokémon video game series, released a new trailer at the Pokémon Showcase on Thursday. The trailer shows off the game’s setting and reveals more gameplay, but does not confirm a release date. Pokémon Legends: ZA will launch on Nintendo Switch in late 2025. At the press conference, The Pokémon Company also announced Pokémon Champions, a new fighting game for Switch and mobile devices.

A new trailer for Pokémon Legends: ZA shows off more of Lumiose City, the game’s Paris-style setting. Players can choose to choose their starting Pokémon from Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile.
The Pokémon games feature turn-based braking, while Pokémon Legends: ZA will introduce real-time battles, with trainers and their Pokémon moving in real time and Pokémon performing actions on command. The game doesn’t yet have a release date, but it’s confirmed to be released in late 2025.
Pokémon Champion Announced
The Pokémon Company also announced a new Pokémon game at the conference. Pokémon Champions is a battle-focused game for Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms.
The game features familiar Pokémon battle mechanics and allows players to introduce classic Pokémon from Pokémon Home. The game will offer multiple modes and support cross-platform battles between Switch and mobile devices. Pokémon Champions has no release date yet and is currently in development for Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
As part of the Pokémon Day celebrations, the Pokémon Gift Showcase also includes news and updates on older Pokémon games and other games in the Pokémon world. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are getting a slew of new in-game activities. Additional updates were announced for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, Pokémon TCG, the Netflix series Pokémon Concierge, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Sleep, Pokémon Unite, and more.
The Pokémon Company also announced that the iconic series of video games will now be localized into Latin American Spanish.
