Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC announced today that the club’s men’s second team, Pittsburgh Riverhounds 2, will compete in the USL Division Two starting with the 2026 season.
The addition of Riverhounds 2 will enhance the club’s player development structure, providing greater opportunities for players to transition from academy and university football to the next level of the game.

Dan Visser, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC sporting director, said: “Riverhounds 2 plays an important role in our player development structure and participating in USL League Two will allow us to take the next step in strengthening this pathway.” This highlights the team’s commitment to developing talent and preparing players for professional opportunities.
USL Division II is recognized as the top professional prep league in the United States, with more than 140 teams from 37 states. The league has successfully served as a springboard for many players, with hundreds of players advancing to the pros in the United States and overseas.
Riverhounds 2 will begin its fixture schedule in May 2026, specifically competing in the League Two Central League. Information on departments and the full schedule will be announced in 2026.
