Penn State add pair of brothers from ISU in transfer portal

In Iowa State’s foray into the transfer portal, the Penn State Nittany Lions have added their first pair of brothers in the portal this season.

Just a few hours later, it was announced that wide receiver Chase Sowell and his freshman brother, defensive back Hunter, would both join the Nittany Lions under Matt Campbell. This will be Chase’s fourth collegiate team this season, joining Campbell and wide receivers coach Noah Pauley.

In Chase Sowell’s redshirt junior season, he caught 32 passes for 500 yards and two touchdowns. He spent his first season at the University of Colorado and then spent two seasons at East Carolina. In four seasons, he had 115 catches for 1,823 yards and six touchdowns.

His brother Hunter, on the other hand, never saw the field during his college career. An unranked recruit out of high school, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound defensive back will be expected to breakout at a position group that may be vacant next year, with several players already gone.
