The Patriots scored first, taking a 3-0 lead early in the second quarter on a 23-yard field goal by rookie Andy Borregales.
Cameron Dicker then came up for a 21-yard field goal to put the Chargers’ possession deep into New England territory on fourth down earlier in the game.
Finally, the Patriots scored again, effectively ending the half, with Borregales hitting a 35-yarder.
Quarterback Drake Maye went 6-for-15 for 95 yards and had an interception on a tipped pass. Meyer was also the leading rusher, gaining 55 yards on five carries, including 37 yards late in the second quarter.

For the Chargers, Justin Herbert was 10 of 13 for 93 yards. Keenan Allen led the way with three catches and 25 yards.
On the injury front, Patriots cornerback Carlton Davis is questionable due to a toe injury.
