Panthers’ opponent for wild-card round now set

The opponent for the Carolina Panthers’ first playoff game in eight years is now determined, and they’ve already faced one this season.

Next weekend’s wild-card game will feature the NFC South champion and fourth-seeded Panthers hosting the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams clinched their ticket to face Charlotte on Sunday night as the fifth seed after defeating the Arizona Cardinals.

Head coach Dave Canales spoke to reporters after the conference title win and was asked if there was an advantage against a team the Panthers played earlier in the season.

“It’s an opportunity to correct some of the things that we want to correct and try to replicate the things that have been successful for us,” Canales responded. “But it gives you a little bit of familiarity and confidence to know, ‘OK, this is a team that we’ve seen before and we’re playing tough.'”

Okay, Canales crew. did Los Angeles picked up a shocking win in Week 13 at U.S. Bank Stadium. The upset saw the underdog Panthers upend the then-No. 1 team. The No. 1 seed Rams won 31-28.

The date and time for the rematch is expected to be announced later tonight following the conclusion of the AFC North battle between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers.
