Even with their newfound success, the Carolina Panthers plan to stay the course.
President of Football Operations and General Manager Dan Morgan held an end-of-season press conference Tuesday morning. He was asked if he planned to take a more aggressive approach in free agency this spring after the team made the playoffs for the first time since 2017 and won the NFC South title for the first time since 2015.

“We’re always going to have a win-now mentality,” Morgan said. “Even last year, we had a win-now mentality. We were going to do what was best for the organization. We were going to trust our plan, trust our process. We weren’t going to be reckless.”
“But at the same time, we’re going to bring talent in here and we’re going to make moves that we think will help us in the future. Whoever that is, whether it’s free agency or the draft, we’re going to attack it and we’re going to make the right move.”
Carolina was strong early in free agency last year. The team signed four players on opening day, including safety Tre’von Moehrig and defensive lineman Tershawn Wharton.
Morgan was then asked about his prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft, which the Panthers are currently projected to select with the 19th overall pick.

“We’ve done a lot of work on the draft. I think we’ve got about 600 members as well as some board members,” he responded. “It’s still early. At No. 19, there’s going to be a good player there. So we can choose what we’re going to do. I think everything is on the table.”
The Panthers selected Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan with the eighth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. McMillan may be the front-runner for Offensive Rookie of the Year honors this season, with 70 catches for 1,014 yards and seven touchdowns.
