A pedophile who discovered his collection of images of children being raped after his partner reported them to police has been jailed.
Newcastle Crown Court heard Luke Tyson, 22, had collected hundreds of images over the years, including of babies being abused.
Judge Gavin Doig said it was a “tragedy” to see someone so young commit such an offence.
Tyson, from Sunderland, was jailed for three years and four months after admitting a number of offences, including making indecent images of children and breaching a sexual risk order.

Prosecutor Emily Sanderson said his then-partner reported him to police, who discovered some of his photos and chats he had made on his phone.
The court heard police found 192 indecent images on his device, 51 of which were in the most serious category, as well as a prohibited image of a man having sex with a pig.
The court heard he had been subject to a sexual risk order following a previous conviction for taking indecent images of children as a teenager and was later given a suspended sentence for further offences.
The court heard that during a regular monitoring visit by his risk assessment officer it was discovered that he had phone and online storage accounts that were not registered with the police, in breach of the court order.
Sanderson said 246 indecent videos of children ranging in age from infants to 12 years old were also found, including 127 in the most serious category.
The court heard the most serious of these was a video of a three- and four-year-old girl being raped by a man.
Judge Doig said the fact that Tyson was so young was “one of the tragedies of this case”.
The judge told him: “It is very unfortunate that you are involved in this kind of criminal behavior when you are only 22 years old. I hope you can change your behavior.”
