The Green Bay Packers will sign quarterback Desmond Reed to the team’s practice squad ahead of Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The addition of Reed signals that the Packers — who locked up the seventh seed — plan to rest quarterbacks Jordan Love and Malik Willis on Sunday in Minneapolis. As of Sunday, Love was being treated for a concussion and Willis was dealing with a throwing shoulder injury.

The Packers also have quarterback Clayton Tune on the practice squad, although there’s a chance he will be signed to the 53-man roster before Sunday. After Willis left the game with an aggravated shoulder injury, Thune was elevated to the game-day roster and finished last Saturday night’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Reed is a 2022 third-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons and is currently on his sixth NFL team. He spent the 2025 season with the Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings.
Reed has appeared in 25 NFL games, starting 18 of them. He last played in a game in 2024 when he started for the Las Vegas Raiders. Between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Reed made 17 starts for the Falcons and posted an 8-9 record.
Ridder completed 63.6 percent of his passes with 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, averaging 6.8 yards per attempt and posting an NFL-level passer rating of 82.6.

Reed most recently played for the Vikings. He spent two weeks on the team’s 53-man roster between September and October, then spent a week on the team’s practice squad in late November and early December.
If Thune is signed to the 53-man roster and starts Sunday, Reed could be elevated to an emergency backup option against the Vikings.
