Packers OL and pending free agent Rasheed Walker arrested on gun charges

Green Bay Packers left tackle Rasheed Walker, who will become an unrestricted agent this offseason, was arrested Friday at LaGuardia Airport on gun charges, the New York Post reported. Walker was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.

Walker, who reportedly tried to check a locked box containing a handgun and ammunition, appeared in court and was released. His lawyers hope the case will be dismissed.

Walker was selected by the Packers in the seventh round in 2022 and played in 52 games in four seasons, including 48 starts, becoming the team’s mainstay at left tackle.

Given his experience and how well he performs in 2024, Walker has the potential to command a huge salary this offseason.

2025 is a critical year for Walker as it marks the final year of his rookie contract and the opportunity to maximize his first major NFL contract. However, despite starting 16 games at left tackle in Green Bay this season, Walker’s production has declined and hasn’t been to the standard he or the team had hoped for.

According to “Pro Football Focus”, Walker was pressured 34 times by opponents and sacked 5 times, the highest number on the team.

Walker could still get a lucrative multi-year contract this offseason. Spotrac expects Walker to receive a four-year contract worth nearly $81.5 million.

Walker is due back in a New York courtroom on March 19, about a week after the new season begins.
