The Baltimore Orioles have surprised everyone by signing multiple free agents so far this offseason, the biggest of which is Pete Alonso. One final move, however, could take this offseason from wonderful to legendary.

The move is a blockbuster deal for two-time Cy Young player Tarik Skubal, according to Fanside’s Christopher Kline. Skubal’s current team, the Detroit Tigers, is on its last legs, so it probably won’t be too hard to acquire him.

Last season, Skubal went 13-6 with a 2.21 ERA, 241 Ks and an .891 WHIP in 195 innings. Pair him with Trevor Rogers, who is coming off a breakout season, and the Orioles can dominate the AL East.

However, the O’s will only have him for one year under his current contract. So if they do trade him, they need to be prepared to pay for his projected eight-year, $299 million contract.
If they can, then that’s what they’re going to do. Hopefully they can do that and push themselves into a World Series favorite.
