“On top of all this” – John Terry has big warning for Chelsea as he previews Newcastle game

After a slump leading up to these games, Chelsea have now secured a few necessary wins. This week we beat Cardiff City 3-1 in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, and before that we had a huge win in the Premier League, beating Everton 2-0.

So Chelsea can definitely use that momentum when they travel to Newcastle tomorrow, but we also know it’s going to be a very tough place and we’ll struggle to bring all three points back.

Looking ahead to Newcastle’s game against Chelsea, Terry said:

“Newcastle are away at the weekend against a very good, well organized Newcastle side under Eddie Howe. It’s a very good defensively, very physical team. You see this team in the tunnel and you know they’re definitely ready and they’re a physical team at set-pieces as well.”

“So we need to make sure we’re good at defending set-pieces as well. I think Newcastle United have one of the best and most physical midfielders in the Premier League. Anthony Gordon is quick on the wings as well. Harvey Barnes can also come in and make an impact.

“Elanga also showed real pace and real threat down the other side. On top of that, it was an early kick. The Newcastle supporters are great. They are always ready. They follow their team from the kick-off. So, whoever is the captain, let them turn over in the first half and let them kick towards the Gallowgate Stand.”

There are slopes there too!

Terry continued:

“For those who don’t know, there’s a slope. Well, St James’ Park has a big slope, especially when it comes to games. So, the first half also had them kicking towards the Gallowgate Stand. But obviously, we’ve just beaten Cardiff City and the players have had a lot of time off this week. So I’m expecting the manager to make some changes in terms of the squad and hopefully we can get back to winning ways in the Premier League.”

“I know thousands of Chelsea fans are traveling, so travel safe. Follow the kids,” Terry said at the end of the video, as quoted by Last Word on Sport.
