The 45-year-old two-time Olympic medalist announced the birth of her second child, Della Rose Kwan, in a sweet post on social media on Thursday, December 11.
“I have always dreamed of having a baby and when Calista came into this world I was already grateful for the miracle that after years of trying I once thought was impossible,” Kwan wrote in an Instagram post.
“Being here again has been a rollercoaster and I am endlessly grateful to my loved ones with whom I am blessed to share my life, my family without whom I would not be here, and the incredible team of doctors and support who helped make this miracle happen. After over a decade of hoping, I still can’t believe this moment is real.”
The five-time world champion, who won silver at the 1998 Olympics and bronze in 2002, said she pushed her body “to its limits” as a professional athlete and was surprised she was able to conceive her second child after years of battling infertility.
