Official: Milan part ways with Origi

AC Milan officially confirmed the termination of Divock Origi’s contract, ending the Belgian forward’s career at San Siro.

Origi joined Milan in the summer of 2022 as an offensive reinforcement after the club won the Serie A championship. However, his time in Italy never really took off.

Injuries and difficulties adapting to Serie A meant the former Liverpool striker struggled to make an impact, despite scoring two goals that were widely regarded as the highlights of Milan’s season.

Origi’s disappointing time at Milan is over

Origi only spent one season in the red and black shirt, and was loaned to Nottingham Forest the following year, but that experience was also disappointing. Upon his return, the striker, born in 1995, remained under contract with Milan but was effectively absent, training away from the first team.

In the past few hours, the situation has been completely resolved. With just six months left on his contract, Origi agreed to a mutual termination, making him a free agent after three and a half years at Milan.

The Rossoneri confirmed the decision in an official statement posted on their website:

“AC Milan announces the termination of the contract with striker Divock Origi. The club wishes the player all the best for the future.”
