Notre Dame men’s basketball has struggled a bit against top teams in the first few weeks of its 2025-26 season, but that changed Tuesday night as they defeated previously undefeated Missouri 76-71 in South Bend.

The Irish trailed 28-40 with less than a minute left in the first half, but extended their lead to 40-33 at halftime. The outburst at the end of the first half gave Notre Dame confidence for the next 20 minutes, allowing the Tigers to get their best shot and keep fighting. It was undoubtedly the Irish’s best win of the season, helping the ACC lead the SEC 5-3 in the conference challenge, but other games are still in progress.

Markus Burton led Notre Dame with 18 points, while star freshman Jalen Haralson scored 13 points but fouled out. Carson Toth continued to dominate the rebounding, scoring a team-high nine points on the night, while Burton also dished out 10 assists for a double-double. Cole Celta, who came off the bench, was full of firepower, shooting 4 of 7 three-pointers and scoring 14 points.

The win pushed Notre Dame’s record to 6-3, and the team will quickly turn things around. The Irish will host TCU on the road Friday night.
