Associated Press (AP) — Luke Kornet is calling on the Atlanta Hawks to cancel an upcoming partnership with the Magic City, saying he and other NBA players are surprised by the team’s decision to promote an adult entertainment club.
The San Antonio Spurs center wrote on Monday that allowing the event to take place during the Hawks’ March 16 game against the Orlando Magic “would reflect poorly on us as an NBA community, especially engaging in potential objectification and abuse of women in our society.”

“No matter how women enter the adult entertainment industry, many in the field experience abuse, harassment, and violence that they should not be subjected to,” Cornett added in a blog post.
The Hawks announced the promotion last week, saying it will include a live performance from Atlanta’s local TI and offer two versions of Magic City’s famous chicken wings and a special hoodie available for purchase.
But Cornette noted that the press release “fails to acknowledge that this place is, as the business itself boasts, ‘Atlanta’s premier strip club.'” As a result, he asked the Eagles to cancel the promotion.
“We hope to provide an environment where fans of all ages can safely come and enjoy basketball games and where we can conscientiously celebrate our community’s history and culture,” Cornett wrote. “The strip club celebration does not align with that vision.”
