NASCAR Champion’s Ex-Wife Arrested on Felony Larceny Charge in North Carolina

Lauren Beth Crafton, the ex-wife of three-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Matt Crafton, was arrested on or about February 20, 2026 in Iredell County, North Carolina, on a felony theft charge. According to public booking records, she was detained under North Carolina General Statute 14-72(a). Authorities set her bail at $2,500 and released a booking photo as part of the public record.

Under North Carolina law, felony theft charges generally apply when the value of the property allegedly stolen exceeds $1,000 or when certain aggravating factors are involved. The crime is classified as a Class H felony and could result in jail time if convicted. Officials released no further details about the alleged theft and released no further information about the investigation.

The arrest quickly drew attention from the motorsports community, in large part because of Crafton’s past ties to Matt Crafton, a longtime driver for Thor Sports Racing and a NASCAR Truck Series standout. The couple divorced in 2008. Authorities have no indication the case has any connection to Matt Crafton’s racing career or current professional activities.

Images of the booking record circulated online and were highlighted by several motorsport media outlets, helping to raise public awareness of the case. As of now, no detailed court date or other documents have been released.

Lauren Beth Crafton’s current condition reflects the release of bail as the legal process proceeds. The investigation remains ongoing and further updates are expected as the case moves through the North Carolina court system.
