NASCAR has announced that the 2025 Daytona 500 will start an hour earlier on Sunday to avoid potential severe weather.
The 67th annual Great American Race was originally scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. ET.

The National Weather Service predicted a 50% chance of rain Sunday afternoon, leading officials to revise the schedule to ensure the game ends on time.
Coverage of the event will begin at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
The green flag for the race is expected to be 2 p.m. ET. NASCAR officials adjusted the schedule to provide a larger window of time to complete the full 500 miles on race day.
The weather service is predicting a 50 percent chance of rain Sunday afternoon.
Forecasters said there was a greater chance of precipitation moving into the area later that night.
The schedule change comes after two consecutive years of rain affecting events at Daytona International Speedway.

The 2024 Daytona 500 has been moved to Monday due to weather-related washout conditions.
Last year’s race remained on its original date, but red flag times were slowed by two-thirds of an hour due to weather conditions.
