Castiga said it was in the kidnapper’s interest to keep Nancy alive so they could bargain with the family, likely for money. Therefore, he felt it was reasonable to assume that they would take Nancy to Mexico to address any underlying medical issues.
“Is there any way to stop a person who orchestrated this – and I think he has done this – from coming into Mexico and hiding her somewhere in Mexico where, in theory, they could take care of her medical issues,” the former police chief told Entin.
Kasitga added, however, that he believed Nancy “died somehow, even though this plan may have been attempted.”
“I believe it deprives them of the opportunity to get what they want from their families. A lot of us think it’s money – and it probably is,” he continued.
Kasitega also mentioned pleas from the Savannah and Guthrie families that they wanted Nancy brought home, but did not specify “alive.”
“My theory is she’s passed,” he said. “My theory is that they didn’t have anything – they were the perpetrators – really didn’t have anything to bargain with further. I don’t know what they might have done to her.”
Previous reports stated that Nancy’s pacemaker stopped syncing with her Apple Watch on February 1. Nanos also revealed that Nancy has limited mobility and requires daily medication to treat high blood pressure and heart problems.
