Nacon Delays Terminator: Survivors Until 2025, Says Game Needs Time to Meet Expectations

Open-world sci-fi survival game “Terminator: Survivors” has been delayed to 2025, publisher Nacon announced on Monday. The game is developed by Nacon Studio Milan and was originally scheduled to be released in early access on Steam on October 24, 2024. It has now been postponed to next year at an unspecified date. Nacon said the delay will give Terminator: Survivors’ development team the time they need to make a game that “meets player expectations.”

According to Narcon, more time is needed to establish a post-apocalyptic world in line with the Terminator series. Marco Ponte, CEO and Creative Director of Nacon Studio Milan, said in a press statement: “Delaying the game’s release was a difficult decision, but we believe that this additional time will allow us to ensure that Terminator’s vision of a post-apocalyptic world reaches the expected level of quality.”

“On behalf of the NACON Studio Milan team, I would like to thank all players and fans of the series for the warm reception to Terminator: Survivors. We are extremely honored to have had the opportunity to work on such an iconic series as Terminator and are eager to reveal more. Thank you for your support… we will be back,” he added.

The official Terminator: Survivor account also posted an update on X, saying the delay was “the right choice” in the long run.

Terminator: Survivors was originally scheduled to be released in Early Access on October 24th on PC (via Steam). PS5 and Xbox Series S/X are planned to be released at a later date. The game was originally slated for release in 2022, with the title and release date fully revealed earlier this year.

This open-world survival game is set in the world of the 1984 sci-fi series “Terminator” created by James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd. Terminator: Survivors tells an original story within that world, taking place after the events of the first two films. The game puts players in the role of Judgment Day survivors, allowing them to play alone or cooperatively. Terminator: Survivors will be released on PC sometime in 2025.
