N.J. man dies after he’s punched in face at wedding venue

A Plainfield man died Thursday night after he was attacked by another man at an upscale restaurant and wedding venue in Passaic County, authorities said.

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said the 46-year-old victim was shot in the face at Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park around 11:56 p.m. The victim’s name has not been released.

Woodland Park police responded to the scene in the 700 block of Rifle Camp Road after receiving a report that the man was unconscious.

Emergency crews rushed the man to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The alleged attacker left the scene in a vehicle, Valdez said in a statement with Woodland Park Police Chief Luigi DeLuca.
