MTG lays into Karoline Leavitt for refusing to rule out Iran war draft

Former Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene blasted White House press secretary Carolyn Leavitt for refusing to explicitly rule out drafting U.S. citizens into the conflict with Iran.

Levitt is interviewed by Maria Bartiromo on Fox News Sunday morning futures As the campaign develops, U.S. troops may appear in the Middle East.

“The mothers there are worried that we will have a conscription, that they will see their sons and daughters involved,” Bartiromo said, seeking reassurances and noting that the fighting so far has consisted only of mutual airstrikes.

“It always has been and always will be,” the secretary replied. “President Trump wisely did not rule out the option.

“I know many politicians would like to do this as quickly as possible, but the president as commander in chief wants to continue to evaluate the success of this military operation. It is not part of the current plan, but again the president is wise to keep his options open.”

On Sunday, Green responded to a clip of the exchange on X (Twitter), saying: “Caroline Leavitt isn’t ruling out the draft.

“The answer is, don’t serve in the military and don’t put your boots on the ground because we campaigned on no more foreign wars or regime change!!! Every single one of them is a liar! Not my son, but my corpse!!!!”

In a follow-up post, the former congresswoman added: “By the way, a bunch of neurotic Republicans want to draft not only your son, but your daughter!!!!

In a third post, she wrote: “While I was in Congress, they repeatedly tried to include women in the draft. Trump and Republicans need to guarantee there will be no draft and that our daughters will never be drafted.”

Since leaving office in January after falling out with Donald Trump last year, Greene has positioned herself as a true voice of the MAGA movement, holding the president and the administration accountable for their failure to live up to “America First” principles and their own election promises.

interviewer 60 minutes “People are asking boots on the ground, no boots on the ground, four weeks, two weeks, six weeks,” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said late Sunday on CBS when asked about the potential duration of the conflict.

“President Trump knows, I know, you don’t tell the enemy, you don’t tell the media, you don’t tell anyone about the restrictions you have on movement. We are willing to do whatever we can to succeed.”

Hegseth spoke shortly after a seventh American soldier died since Operation Epic Fury was announced.

Central Command declined to identify the service members on Sunday but said they died from serious injuries sustained during an attack on a U.S. military base in Saudi Arabia on March 1.

Trump has previously been criticized for his choice of words in announcing the deaths of six soldiers, which he described in a Truth Society video as “that’s just the way it is.”

Democratic veterans are angry that they have turned a blind eye to the ultimate sacrifice of a president who never served in the military and received at least five draft deferments during the Vietnam War.

In the CBS interview, Hegseth did not rule out the possibility that more Americans were killed in hostilities.

“The president was right to say there would be casualties,” he said. “Things like this don’t happen without casualties. There are going to be more casualties.”

“Nobody – I mean, especially not our generation knows what it’s like to see Americans going home in coffins… but that doesn’t weaken us one bit. It steels our spines and gives us the resolve to say this is a fight we’re going to end.”
