Mt. Bachelor blanketed with 6 inches of snow overnight

Bachelor Mountain Ski Area received several inches of snow Sunday night and is expected to continue into Monday.

Central Oregon ski resorts received 6 inches of snow overnight, with another 2 to 4 inches expected as the snow continues.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-20s

The new snowfall signals a positive change in weather patterns, as most mountains in the Pacific Northwest are experiencing a late start to the snow season.

Bachelor Mountain Ski Resort usually opens in late November, but had to postpone its opening due to a late snowfall.

“Things are much improved today, but there are still variables,” said Presley Quon, communications and community relations manager. “We could see over a foot of elevation by Thursday, which would be great for snow accumulation.”

The resort urges skiers and riders to use caution.

Skiers and riders are asked to stay near open and groomed terrain.
