Most Americans — Including 30% of Republicans — Believe Trump Is Becoming ‘Erratic With Age’

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Americans are increasingly worried about the president donald trump Age and mentality.

The survey, conducted online from February 18 to 23, measured the attitudes of 4,638 U.S. adults. The survey found that 89% of Democrats, 30% of Republicans and 64% of independents believe the president “has become less stable as he ages.” Overall, 61 percent of respondents described Trump that way. Meanwhile, 45 percent still believe he is “sharp and able to handle challenges.” Forty-nine percent said he was not.

Seventy-nine percent of respondents said “elected officials in Washington, D.C.” more generally are “too old to represent the majority of Americans.”

Trump’s approval rating rose two points to 40%, and his net approval rating rose four points to -18%. The previous figure remained at 38% in the previous two Reuters/Ipsos polls, conducted in mid-February and late January, when his net approval ratings were -22% and -21% respectively.

The president’s approval rating among whites, blacks and Hispanics has been falling since last February, but the last group saw the biggest drop, from 36% to 29%. His financial approval rating also dropped significantly during this period, from 41% to 36%.
