According to a recent report, by 2025, more people will move to Myrtle Beach than any other city in the United States.
This is the third year in a row that Myrtle Beach has made Pods’ list of the top 20 destinations for people to relocate to each year.
Myrtle Beach joins several Carolina cities on the list, including the Greenville-Spartanburg area and North Carolina’s Wilmington, Raleigh and Charlotte. According to the National Moving Company Report, the Carolinas have the most cities on the list and the most cities in the top 10.
The report noted that the Carolinas’ growing economy and job market, low taxes and good quality of life are attractive to new residents.
The city of Myrtle Beach has more than 40,000 residents, but the surrounding coastal town of Grand Strand has nearly 400,000 residents. That doesn’t include the millions of tourists who come to the area every year.
Horry County, where Myrtle Beach is located, will add nearly 16,000 residents between 2023 and 2024, making it one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States, according to the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce. The Myrtle Beach-Conway-North Myrtle Beach metropolitan area ranked third in the country with a growth rate of 3.8 percent, according to the report.
Many of the Myrtle Beach area’s new residents come from states such as Florida, New York and New Jersey.
Pods reports that Long Island, New York, and Central Jersey, New Jersey, are the two cities with the highest number of outbound arrivals.
