What do the Minnesota Vikings need to do to get back into the NFL playoffs after a disappointing 2025 season?
Although the Vikings have a winning record, it is not enough to make up for missing the playoffs after going 14-3 in 2024. It also didn’t help Minnesota fans that their former quarterback, Sam Darnold, joined the Seattle Seahawks and won a Super Bowl in his first season in the Northwest.

While JJ McCarthy is expected to be the starter next season, there’s no guarantee he’ll be at center in the team’s regular season opener. The Vikings and head coach Kevin O’Connell are adamant that they will bring in veteran competition to test the former Michigan Wolverines national champion in training camp.
Could this mean Aaron Rodgers? Mac Jones? Daniel Jones?
Regardless of who the Vikings have as their signal caller this coming season, they will need to improve their offense.
With the 18th overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft in Pittsburgh, NFL.com analyst Charles Davis has Minnesota looking to upgrade their offense by signing the best running back in college football: Notre Dame Fighting Irish star Jeremiyah Love.

“Are teams underestimating the running back position? again? “The Vikings can’t afford to give up on their top three talents in this year’s draft,” Davis wrote in a mock draft. Head coach Kevin O’Connell will find plenty of opportunities for him to play. “
The addition of Love will give the Vikings a tackle-breaking quarterback early next season, and the offense needs a spark after a dull 2025.
Love can also help the passing attack with his strong hands and catching ability, which could boost the Vikings’ offense, which already has a quality wide receiver space led by Justin Jefferson.
If Love does fall into the hands of the Vikings, it would be a perfect fit for a team looking for an offensive edge to propel them forward in 2026.
