The Minnesota Vikings were one of the best defensive teams in the league last season. They rank third in yards allowed and seventh in points allowed.
But that doesn’t mean there aren’t vulnerabilities on the device. Byron Murphy Jr. and Isaiah Rodgers are the only two cornerbacks with more than 200 snaps. Part of that is due to Brian Flores deploying a lot of base defense, but the Vikings entered the season weak at the position. To make matters worse, Jeff Okudah was lost for the season after Week 7.

Many mock drafts have Minnesota taking on cornerback. In a post-Super Bowl mock, PFF’s Max Chadwick had the Vikings selecting Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell with the 18th overall pick.
The Vikings have had a team PFF coverage grade outside the top 15 each of the past six seasons, and their secondary needs plenty of help. Terrell’s 90.6 PFF overall grade over the past two seasons ranks fifth among all Final Four cornerbacks.
If you watched any mocks, you probably saw Terrell’s name assigned to the Vikings. He is selected by Minnesota in 40 percent of the site’s mock draft simulations.
It is also important that the choice is consistent with his values. Terrell is ranked No. 19 on PFF’s Big Board, meaning the Vikings don’t have one of their biggest needs covered.
So keep an eye on Terrell as he remains a favorite in Minnesota in early mock drafts.
