Minnesota Vikings at New York Giants: Third Quarter Recap and Fourth Quarter Discussion

We’re heading into the fourth quarter at MetLife Stadium, and the Minnesota Vikings still hold a 13-10 lead over the New York Football Giants in their final road game of the year.

The Giants had the football first at the start of the half, and the Vikings won the coin toss and elected to have the football first. New York’s offense, as they had done all afternoon, didn’t move the football much and was forced to kick the ball away.

Minnesota’s offense, led by Max Brosmer after JJ McCarthy was injured, took over at its own 13-yard line. They eventually made it to the New York 44, but ended up having to put the ball away themselves.

New York’s ensuing drive might have been their best offensive performance of the afternoon, at least since their opening drive, as they got into Minnesota territory. The Vikings defense had just allowed a sack on Dart, and as we entered the fourth quarter, the Giants were looking at a 3rd-and-12 from the Minnesota 48-yard line.

If that doesn’t sound like a lot happened in the third quarter. . …Well, that’s just because nothing happened.
