Two months after his shocking resignation from the Pittsburgh Steelers , Mike Tomlin finally made his first public appearance since leaving the team on Thursday.
He and his wife, Kiya, received the Patricia R. Rooney Community Impact Award. After receiving the award, Tomlin gave a speech, thanking the Steelers and expressing his appreciation for the team.

“They always say you’re here to have a good time, not a long time, like you have to make a choice,” Tomlin told the audience. “I think the experience we had in Pittsburgh and the great Steelers organization proves that. We had a long, really good time here.”
Tomlin served as Pittsburgh’s head coach for 19 seasons, winning a Super Bowl and never losing. He is one of the most successful head coaches in NFL history, with a career total of 201 wins in the regular season and playoffs.
Tomlin also took a moment to thank the community and explain what this means to his family.

“It is an honor to serve the greatest organization in sports. It is an honor to be a part of this great community for our children to call home,” Tomlin continued. “It’s been a privilege to serve the community that we live in and the values ​​that we hold. That will continue… We are very fortunate.”
Tomlin currently does not have a coaching job and is expected to take a year off, although he may seek a media position.
