Michigan State defeats Penn State in Beaver Stadium on Charlie Stramel hat trick

In front of more than 60,000 spectators outdoors at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 31, the senior forward scored a hat trick for the No. 2 Michigan State men’s lacrosse team in a 5-4 overtime victory over No. 5 Penn State, including the game-winning goal on a one-on-one opportunity with Penn State goaltender Kevin Redler in overtime.

Starmell’s game-winning goal in overtime also completed the weekend and season sweep of the Nittany Lions for the Spartans, who defeated Penn State 6-3 on Friday, Jan. 30 at Pegula Ice Arena in Happy Valley.
