After entering the transfer portal last week, Michigan freshman safety Jordan Young is officially out and will return to Ann Arbor in 2026.
Young entered the portal last Tuesday night after playing in nine games, totaling 15 tackles and three breakups. All three of those pass breakups came in Michigan’s final four games of the season, one of which was the highlight of his young career so far against Northwestern at Wrigley Field.
That’s good news, not only because Young has a lot of untapped potential and will benefit greatly from Kyle Whittingham’s defensive staff under coordinator Jay Hill, but also because the defense is starting to look a little thin. After Young joined, the Michigan team also introduced second-line players such as TJ Metcalf, Tevis Metcalf, Brandon Hillman and Jayden Sanders. Young’s return would at least help with depth, and if everything goes well this offseason, he could even earn himself a starting job.
