In less than two months we will see Marquette girls lacrosse back on the field!
Head coach Meredith Black announced her team’s 2026 schedule Thursday, and you better believe it’s filled with familiar names. Seven of Marquette’s 10 non-conference opponents are on the 2025 calendar, and only one of the other three opponents is the Golden Eagles’ first-time opponent.

The first game of the year is an exhibition game at home against the University of Chicago on Jan. 31, but the Golden Eagles will officially open 2026 with three consecutive home games starting on Friday, Feb. 6. That’s when Eastern Michigan came to town with some Eagle-on-Eagle violence for four straight seasons. Marquette had won its previous three games, including an 18-14 win in Ypsilanti last year.
The next two games will be played over the next seven days, both at home. Cincinnati is the second game that Marquette has seen the Bearcats every season. MU is 10-3 against UC, including wins in its last four games. Then, on February 13, Central Michigan concluded its home schedule. The Golden Eagles are 9-2 all-time against the Chippewas and have won five straight in the series.
The next four were on the road, but they weren’t really road trips. First up is Feb. 20 at Northwestern, where Marquette will defeat the Wildcats in its 11th attempt and first in franchise history. Four days later, at Arizona State, Missouri tried to make its second straight game against the Sun Devils. Marquette will then travel to Florida to face Jacksonville for the first time. The final leg of the run is March 6 at Youngstown State University. This will be the second meeting between the two teams after Marquette defeated the Penguins in 2023.
The Detroit Angels will travel to Milwaukee to take on Marquette University in their next game on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 10th. This is MU’s second consecutive undefeated opponent, adding to their 10 wins over the Titans, including each of the past four seasons. The Golden Eagles will then travel to New York to visit Niagara on March 14 for more Eagle On Eagle violence before Big East play begins.

Georgetown in the Valley will play its first Big East game of the year on March 21, but Marquette will conclude its non-conference play two days later when it hosts UC Davis. Missouri is 2-0 after beating the Aggies 19-17 in 2023 and beat them 5-4 in overtime in 2015 (which is true).
After that, it’s just Big East play. The league is made up of seven teams, so there are six games in the regular season, even divided into home and away games. However, with Georgetown already on the roster, Marquette’s final five games are three on the road and two at home, concluding its schedule with Milwaukee on April 18 when Butler visits.
Tess Osburn is Marquette’s top returning attacker in 2026. Last year, she finished second on the team with 64 points with 45 goals and 19 assists. The 64 points were enough to rank as the tenth-best season in MU history, while the 45 goals tied for eighth. Entering 2026, Osborne will rank ninth on the all-time scoring list and seventh in goals.
