MIAMI (AP) — The Miami Marlins agreed to a one-year deal with right-hander Pete Fairbanks on Sunday.
The 32-year-old Fairbanks made 61 appearances for Tampa Bay last season, setting a career high with a 4-5 record and a 2.83 ERA. He collected 27 saves in 32 opportunities, a career high, while allowing seven homers and 45 hits in 60 1/3 innings.

Fairbanks ranked third among American League relievers in games completed last season (48) and seventh in saves.
The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native has been with the Rays the past seven seasons, going 20-22 with a 2.98 ERA. He recorded 96 walks and 317 strikeouts in 267 games. He appeared in 12 postseason games with the Rays, nine of which came during the club’s run to the 2020 World Series.
The Rays declined Fairbanks’ $11 million option last month, making him a free agent. Fairbanks received a $1 million purchase.
