Mark Daigneault addresses Alex Pretti’s killing ahead of Minnesota trip

Following this, you’ll see some of the NBA’s top figures talk about what happened in Minnesota less than a week ago. On Saturday, January 24, Alex Pretti was killed by a federal agent.

The incident occurred just weeks after the death of Renee Good, who was shot and killed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on Jan. 7.

As the Oklahoma City Thunder prepare to face the Minnesota Timberwolves for the first time since those killings, Mark Daigneault was asked how his team will handle an incident that has become a national topic.

“This is obviously a very sad and disturbing situation. This is a great community that we’ve been in for many years,” Dainio said. “Our hearts go out to the community there. Obviously they’re going through this right now.”

Daigneault noted that the Thunder felt safe traveling to Minnesota. Minnesota has sparked more protests and outrage since Pretty’s death. The Timberwolves postponed a game. They were scheduled to face the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, January 24th. The game was postponed to a day later.

“We will organize the management team internally as usual,” Dainio said. “We won’t go to a city if there are security risks associated with the league.”

Chet Holmgren also spoke about the Minnesota shootings. This is closer to home for Holmgren than others on the Thunder roster, considering that’s where he’s from.
