Man dies after suffering medical emergency on I-5 in San Diego

(FOX 5/KUSI) – A man died late last week after suffering an unspecified medical emergency on northbound Interstate 5 in San Diego, the California Highway Patrol said.

Just before noon Friday, the Border Communications Center received a call reporting an unresponsive Hispanic man in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 south of Civic Center Boulevard, according to the CHP.

Despite life-saving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office is awaiting toxicology reports.

The cause and sequence of events leading to the man’s death remain under investigation. The man’s identity is currently being withheld pending notification of his family.
