Mafia: Homeland is getting a new update this week, which will add new combat and racing challenges, gameplay features, new items, and more. The Free Ride update will be released on November 20th on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, and will be free to all players who own the base game.

2K announced the free update on its website on Wednesday, detailing all the new features and content in a new trailer. The Free Ride update will bring new cars and horses to Mafia: The Old Country. The action-adventure game will also feature new combat challenges that will be unlocked as players progress through the main story. 2K says these challenges can also be replayed to earn level rewards.
Mafia: Old Nation will also get some new gameplay features via a free ride update. These include a new photo mode, a returning “Classic” difficulty setting, and a new first-person driving mode. The game will also feature a new black-and-white movie mode called “Sicilian Cinema.” Inspired by vintage Italian films.
In terms of new content, the Free Ride update will add new vehicles, guns, knives, clothing, and accessories. Developer Hangar 13 said that all new items players obtain in Free Ride can be used in the main story campaign.
Hangar 13 detailed the update in a PlayStation blog post, stating that the new Free Ride update is a callback to the original Mafia’s Free Ride Extreme and Mafia: Definitive Edition Free Ride modes.
“We want players to explore the world in a free way, and Free Ride turns it into a vast hub where you can discover and access challenges by traveling around, unlocking hitching posts, and meeting contacts. Challenges are instantiated and accessed through these contacts, and doing so places you in combat locations or special world states,” said Josh Zammit, associate design director for the game.
He also hinted that the update might add new places to explore on the game’s map.
The free update will be released on Thursday, November 20 at 8am PT / 11am ET (9:30pm IST). Players who own the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X versions of Mafia: The Old Kingdom will receive the game for free. Additionally, starting November 21st, PS Plus Deluxe/Premium subscribers on PS5 will be able to try the game for free.
