During the college baseball season, Longhorns players are popular on America’s Baseball Team of the Week. That trend continued Wednesday as Casey Borba became the latest player to earn national recognition. His performance at the plate earned him the DH spot.
The Longhorns remain one of the best teams in the country, with Borba going 7-for-17 with four homers in four games. He also drove in eight runs and recorded a team-high 19 bases. No matter who is on the mound, the California native will make strong contact and help the Longhorns’ offense.
While the regular season is far from over, Borba has taken his game to new heights. In 71 at-bats, he hit seven home runs and had 22 RBIs. He also had 14 walks, 20 runs and 24 hits during that span. He’s on pace to set career highs in nearly every category, including home runs and RBIs. Last week, he showed how much he has improved in his game.

In a team filled with talent, Borba began to stand out. The Longhorns’ lineup includes Ethan Mendoza and Aiden Robbins, both of whom earned Perfect Game honors this season. The Longhorns’ offense was difficult to stop as these three made it difficult for every pitcher they faced.
Borba played 105 games with the Burnt Orange and built up a solid career. During that time, the Orange Lutheran High product batted .286 and drove in 86 runs. His numbers should continue to improve as the Longhorns infielder shows no signs of slowing down.
With Borba sealing the win, more awards may be on the horizon. He has proven this season that his best baseball is still ahead, earning the Longhorns star national attention.
