Light snow forecasted in Triad on Wednesday night

PIEDMONT TRIAD, NC (WGHP) — Today is a great day to improve secondary road conditions!

The weather will be mostly cloudy to cloudy, but temperatures will rise into the mid-40s this afternoon. In fact, we’re expecting temperatures to be above freezing until lunchtime.

There is a cold front to the north and a low pressure area to the west-southwest. The cold front is expected to approach the Piedmont tomorrow morning. The sky will be cloudy at night and the minimum temperature will be near 32 degrees.

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy, with scattered light rain during the workday, and highs in the mid-30s. Around 5 p.m., low pressure will move eastward and showers will begin moving into the Piedmont from the south. When rain falls on snowpack, it freezes on contact in the southern Piedmont. Precipitation will be all flurries by early evening and will continue into the early morning hours. By any measure, this is not going to be a huge storm. The low temperature will be close to 25 degrees on Wednesday night, with some 1/2 Expected to be one inch and one inch.

Behind this low pressure system, our skies are expected to become partly cloudy on Thursday and Friday. Highs on Thursday will remain in the mid-30s, but on Friday we’ll move back into the mid-40s.

Another cold front will push through the Carolinas Friday night, but the air will be too dry to produce any precipitation. It will be cooler this weekend, with highs near 40 degrees on Saturday and lots of sunshine. On Sunday, the sky will become partly cloudy and the maximum temperature will rise to more than 30 degrees.

We’ll have a nice warm-up on Monday as highs climb into the 40s! The start of the work week is expected to remain dry with partly cloudy skies.
