Lerone Murphy: Movsar Evloev elite, but I’ll ‘take him into deep waters’

Lerone Murphy looks to prove himself as the number one contender at UFC Fight Night 270.

Murphy (17-0-1 MMA, 9-0-1 UFC) takes on Movsar Evloev (19-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) in the main event on March 21 at The O2 (Paramount+) in London.

Murphy had hoped to get a title shot after a short knockout of Aaron Pico at UFC 319, but he will now have to fight through an undefeated grappler first. The Englishman knows what challenge he faces.

“Movsar is an elite, very good fighter,” Murphy said on “The Ariel Helwani Show.” Advertisement

In the eyes of UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, Murphy vs. Evloev is a natural No. 1 contender fight, but is that really the case?

“Nothing specific, but I hope so,” Murphy said. “The matchmakers know what type of fight it is…everybody knows what type of fight it’s going to be and what type of fighter I’m going to be fighting. So I think the winner should definitely be the next one to fight for the title, simple.”
