Lennart Karl hopeful of World Cup call-up

Lennart Karl dreams of representing Germany at this summer’s World Cup.

After Bayern Munich’s 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, Kicker magazine asked the young attacker how he expected to spend June and July.

“I know what you mean. But the only thing that matters to me is to give everything at Bayern – only then can I hope to get a call-up. Anyone who doesn’t want something like this has no place in football,” replied Karl, who turns 18 on Sunday.

So far, Karl has had no direct contact with Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann.

“Not yet, no,” said the youngster, who made his debut for Germany’s U21 national team in November.

“It’s really cool to play in the U21s, playing with all the Bundesliga talent,” he added.

Looking back on his first season as a senior, Carr said he was “very satisfied”.

“But, of course, there’s always more to achieve,” he continued.

“Hopefully I can score more goals, provide more assists and perform better.”

To date, Karl has made 31 appearances for Bayern’s first team, scoring 7 goals and providing 4 assists.
