Leeds and Wales legend Yorath dies aged 75

Former Leeds United and Wales midfielder Terry Yollat ​​has died aged 75 after a short illness.

In the nine years since 1967, Jorat made 199 appearances for his first professional club, Leeds United, scoring 11 goals.

He then signed for Coventry City, before playing for Tottenham Hotspur, Vancouver Whitecaps and Bradford City before ending his playing career with a solo appearance at Swansea City.

Jorat is the father of BBC Sports presenter Gabby Logan and has also made 59 appearances for the Wales national team.

Yolas’ children said in a statement: “To most he was a revered football hero, but to us he was a father; a quiet, kind and gentle man. Our hearts are broken, but we take comfort in knowing he will be reunited with our brother Daniel.”

In addition to Gabi, Julas has three other children – Daniel, Louis and Jordan.

In 1992, 15-year-old Daniel died of the genetic heart disease hypertrophic cardiomyopathy while playing football at home with his father.

In 1974, Jorat won the First Division championship with Leeds United and finished runner-up in the FA Cup, European Cup and Cup Winners’ Cup.

He served as player-manager during his time at Bradford and was assistant manager on the day of the 1985 Valley Parade fire, which killed 56 fans and injured 270 others.

After hanging up his boots, Jolas entered management and has coached Swansea, Wales, Bradford, Cardiff, Lebanon, Sheffield Wednesday and Margate.

In 1988, he led Swansea to promotion from the fourth tier, and in 1994 he was one game away from reaching the World Cup finals with Wales.
