Mavericks star Kyrie Irving announced Wednesday that he will miss the rest of the season as he continues to recover from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
“This decision was not easy, but it was the right one,” Irving said in a statement. “I am grateful to the Mavericks, my teammates and the fans for their continued support throughout this process. I look forward to returning stronger next season. The belief and motivation within me will only grow.”

Irving’s agent, Shetelia Riley Irving, told ESPN: “Kyrie will be at 1,000 percent when he comes back to give himself the best chance to chase a championship next season.”
