The Arizona Cardinals have lost their top head coaching candidate to the Las Vegas Raiders. While the two teams met with Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Clint Kubiak on Saturday and everyone is deliberating as the Seahawks travel to California on Sunday to begin preparations for the Super Bowl, Kubiak appears to have made his decision.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Kubiak intends to try to reach a deal with the Raiders to become their next head coach. With the Seahawks still active, he won’t be able to get a deal done until after the Super Bowl.

This is a long-anticipated decision. The Raiders are considered the favorite to land Kubiak. They have some offensive talent in running back Ashton Jeanty and tight end Brock Bowers. They have an elite pass rusher in Maxx Crosby. They have plenty of cap space to spend this offseason, and they own the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, which means they can acquire the draft’s top quarterback prospect, Fernando Mendoza.
As for the Cardinals, they now have to go back and make a decision on one of the three candidates they have in store — Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, former Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris or Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver.
One good thing about all of this is that the Cardinals should make a decision soon so this nonsense can end.
