Nemeans Queta is having a breakout season with the Boston Celtics this year, surprising many fans and team analysts. But if you ask former Sacramento Kings teammate Keon Ellis, Queta is just perfecting the same game he brought to the Kings before they elected to move on from him, which is clearly a plus for the Celtics.
“We have a really good team and we play together…” Ellis said after the Kings lost to the Celtics at TD Garden on Friday night (Jan. 30). “He’s a really great player at what he does, protecting the rim, being a great pick-and-roller and roll-ball shooter. So, yeah, everything he’s doing now, he’s the same as he was back then. So, it’s nice to see him doing that.”

As for whether Ellis saw the starting-caliber big man in Queta’s game when they both played for Sacramento, Ellis didn’t hesitate.

“Oh, yeah, of course,” the Kings guard recalled. “Rim protector, roll ball a lot, a lot of teams could use that and need that guy, so, absolutely.”
“We all knew going into, I think this was actually our first preseason game together in L.A., we all knew we were going to make a splash in the G-League. So, yeah, it was fun to play with (him).”
