Keller, Weaver each get 2/$22M, per reports

MLB Rumors: Luke Weaver and the New York Mets, Brad Keller and the Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to free agent deals, according to multiple reports. Oddly enough, Weaver and Keller reportedly received two-year, $22 million deals each – the same amount the San Francisco Giants and Adrian Houser had agreed to as reported yesterday.

Keller, a 30-year-old right-handed pitcher who was a Rule 5 draft pick back in the 2017-18 offseason, remained on the Kansas City Royals roster throughout 2018. Keller found success in 2018, posting 4.2 bWAR between the rotation and bullpen, and then 3.0 bWAR as a starter in 2019. However, there was a problem with Keller’s situation in the 2020 season. He became a free agent after the 2023 season.

Keller started in 2024 with the Chicago White Sox, was released in May, signed with Boston, was released in August, re-signed with Boston the next day, and was released again shortly after. The Chicago Cubs acquired him in 2025, and he had a stellar season out of the bullpen, posting a 2.07 ERA in 68 games. The Phillies also reportedly plan to use him as a reliever.

Weaver, a 32-year-old right-handed pitcher who spent most of his career as a journeyman reliever level player, first reached the majors in 2016 and pitched for six different organizations through 2023. He signed with the New York Yankees as a free agent before the 2024 season and has had success as a reliever, posting a 3.21 ERA and 3.58 FIP in 148 innings over 126 games.
