The Seattle Seahawks announced their captains for Sunday’s crucial game against the Indianapolis Colts. Crucially, the Eagles seek to chase the NFL’s best record and compete for the No. 1 seed.
Serving as captains and game-day leaders will be quarterback Sam Darnold on offense, safety Julian Love on defense and linebacker/tight end Brady Russell, who will continue to be a key figure on special teams.
This will be Sam Darnold’s fifth game as captain. He’s the signal caller on offense and a central figure in the Seahawks’ success in 2025. Darnold currently ranks fifth in the NFL in quarterback rating and is one of only nine quarterbacks to reach triple digits (103.8). Will Seattle try to push the tempo in a weak secondary and force Indy into a shootout? That could make things very interesting, as the Colts will likely start 44-year-old Philip Rivers, who entered the facility less than a week ago.

Julian Love could step into more of a full-time role after returning from a more than two-month absence (hamstring) last week. He’s only played 20 games since returning, but he’s a long, smart veteran who can help mitigate negative factors (bad games or bad players) in the backfield. Love last served as captain in Week 2.
Brady Russell is entering his third captaincy this season and has nine solo tackles and a fumble recovery. As a TE, Russell has the ability to shoot from the outside and can find some breakthroughs in the offense, while Arroyo and Sobert are both injured to varying degrees.
The 10-3 Seahawks take on the 8-5 Colts on Sunday at 1:25 pm PST on CBS.
