Iran army chief tells commanders to prepare for any attack, state media reports

DUBAI, April 2 (Reuters) – Iranian state media quoted Iranian army chief Amir Khatami as saying on Thursday that Iran’s combat command must monitor “the enemy’s movements with the greatest pessimism and accuracy” and be prepared to counter any attack method.

U.S. President Donald Trump said the conflict with Iran is “nearly over” and could be over within weeks, but a simultaneous U.S. troop surge in the Gulf has raised concerns that preparations may be underway for a potential ground operation.

“Enemy forces should not survive if the adversary attempts ground operations,” Khatami was quoted as saying by state media.

State media shared a silent video showing Khatami in a room with three other army commanders and on a video call with more than a dozen other commanders. Reuters was unable to immediately verify when the video was taken.
