New Delhi: After India’s exciting title defense in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, cricket fans will now turn their attention to the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).
The 2026 season will be the 19th edition of the tournament and will be the largest IPL season to date, with 84 matches compared to the 74 matches in the previous edition.
Talking about the schedule announcement, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devagit Saikia said that the schedule for the first 20 days of the match will be announced soon.
Saikia told ANI: “We will announce the first 20-day schedule of the IPL in 2-3 days and the rest of the tournament schedule will be announced later, after taking into account the election dates in several states.”

Due to the upcoming state assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the schedule of events will be released in two phases.
