The Colorado Avalanche won their 13th straight game at home, defeating the Winnipeg Jets 3-2.
The AV team performed well in the first quarter, with both Brent Burns and Martin Necas scoring goals. The latter teamed up with Nathan MacKinnon to score a beautiful goal, rewriting the score to 2-0 entering the second quarter.

The second quarter the game became very, Very Lively. A fight after Josh Manson hit Cole Perfetti, a post-whistle brawl with Artturi Lehkonen in Winnipeg, and a few chirps in between gave this game a slightly different spin, but Team Av kept the pace going for the most part. After Cale Makar took a Cole Perfetti tripping penalty, Morgan Barron found himself on a breakaway and capitalized, cutting the Avs’ lead in half to end the period 2-1.
After an unsuccessful late power play, Parker Kelly regained the two-goal lead early in the third quarter on Josh Manson’s deflected shot from the blue line.
However, about a minute and a half later, Mark Scheifele pulled the Jets back within one point on the power play (Devon Toews, hook).
AV almost thought they had regained a two-goal lead, but that was canceled out by a high stick score.

Parker Kelly nears career high in goals
Kelly has been a mainstay on the Avs’ fourth line, but has been consistent, consistent, and is nearing a career-high in goals, scoring his seventh of the season tonight to help his team regain a two-goal lead early in the third period.
The best season of Kelly’s career came last year in 2024-25, when he posted 8g/11a (19 points) in 80 grand prix games. This is the second time in his career that he has scored eight goals, having previously achieved this feat in the 2023-24 season.
In 33 races so far this season, Kelly has achieved 7g/6a in 33 grand prix and is on the verge of setting a new career best.

Joel Kiviranta returns to the goal charts
It may not have been a goal, but Joel Kiviranta added his second assist in 16 games this season, his second since Burns’ goal.
Some of his totals have been consistent throughout his career (barring an outlier last season, 16g/7 years in 79 GP).
It’s also just behind some of his current teammates this season, with Parker Kelly achieving 33g/6a in 6 GP and Jack Drury (who has been the team’s 3C for much of the season) achieving 33g/6a in 5GP.
