‘I’ll be surprised if he sees Monday’ – pundits on Glasner

Former Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given says Oliver Glasner’s outburst could bring an abrupt end to his tenure following Crystal Palace’s shock defeat at the Stadium of Light.

Given told BBC Match of the Day: “I’d be surprised if he saw the game on Monday morning, let alone the end of the season.”

“Abandoned is one of the strongest words you can use. I’ve never seen an interview with a manager like this before. You could see he was angry at the power he had at the football club.”

Former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha agreed, saying Saturday’s defeat could be the final straw for the former Frankfurt boss.

“It looks like he’s reached a breaking point,” Onuoha told Final Score.

“He’s been pretty calm at times this year. It’s been a hard lesson, to be honest.”

Former England striker Alan Shearer added to Match of the Day: “Like Enzo Maresca and Ruben Amorim before him, I would be very surprised if he is still the Crystal Palace manager next weekend.

“For him to say something like that and go against his boss, there’s only one outcome.”
